Our Story

Celebrating over 28 years in Hong Kong, Life Management Yoga Centre (LMYC) began in 1998 as a small gathering in the home of founders Sangeeta and Ramesh Ahuja. Driven by the enthusiasm of our community, we grew into a dedicated 1,500 sq. ft. space in Tsim Sha Tsui, inaugurated on September 11, 2001, by Dr. Hansaji Jayadeva Yogendra, as a first overseas affiliate of The Yoga Institute, Mumbai (TYI), est. 1918.

LMYC specializes in classical yoga, teaching the essential life skills often missed in academic education: how to breathe, relax, communicate, and manage emotions. From men, women and seniors to students in schools and universities, we invite everyone to discover the true treasures of yoga education – peace and happiness.

Sangeeta & Ramesh Ahuja
CO-FOUNDERS

Mr. Ramesh, born in India (1948), a prominent businessman who has lived in Hong Kong for over 50 years. Renowned for his compassion instilled by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Devi Holaram Ahuja, Ramesh dedicated himself to community service. In 1992, he designed a non-profit Youth Development Program to teach vital life skills. In 1993, while staying at Mahatma Gandhi’s historic Nature Cure Centre in India, he conceptualized a “Yoga, Meditation, and Nature-Cure Centre” as a gift of gratitude to Hong Kong. This vision and the nature led him to The Yoga Institute (TYI) in Mumbai in 1994. Beyond his entrepreneurial success, Ramesh completed his Yoga Teacher Training, certified as an RHA Counsellor / Life Coach, and has conducted in-depth studies of the ancient Yoga Sutras.

Mrs. Sangeeta, born in India (1961), was named Mukt-jeevani (“liberated soul”) by Satguru Baba Shardharamji of Ramtekdi Pune. She carries a rich wellness legacy through her family’s heritage Ayurvedic store, ‘M/S Hakim Dwarkadas,’ founded by her great-grandfather in pre-Indian partition era. Guided by her parents, Kishanchand and Geeta Relwani, she embraced “simple living and high thinking,” learning from spiritual sages from age four. A St. Mira’s College graduate, she was deeply influenced by Bhakti Yoga Master Dada J.P. Vaswani. Sangeeta began physical yoga at age 20, but her true mental and emotional transformation occurred in 1996 after attending TYI’s 7-day health camp. Now a dedicated practitioner for over 45 years, she has transformed the lives of over 10,000 students. Trained by Dr. Jayadeva and Dr. Hansaji Yogendra, she specializes in “Yoga for Householders”. She holds a Degree in Chakra Psychology and Counselling. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher (AYUSH Ministry, India & Yoga Alliance, USA) and is further qualified to conduct Advanced Teachers Training. Her holistic approach is further enhanced by certifications in Hypnotherapy (CHII) and NLP, with foundations in Vipassana Meditation.

The Shared Mission: Today, Ramesh and Sangeeta unite their deep expertise, diverse credentials, and lifelong spiritual visions through LMYC, a non-profit yoga school, to bring the science of a healthy, blissful, and purposeful life to the community of Hong Kong.

“Yoga is a way of life and the wisdom which awakens your inner self, whereby you can achieve a blissful state of mind that you do not want to depart from at any cost and in any situation”.
